Halloween Doesn't Have to Frighten Your Waistline
Halloween is right around the corner and holiday parties will soon follow.
Although it is easy this time of year to put back on hard lost pounds, it is not that difficult to limit weight gain either. We'll start by tackling Halloween this week.
Spooky Survival Tips
- Don't invite candy into your house. Just like a vampire, candy is powerless if it's not around you.
- If you do buy candy for trick-or-treaters, wait to the last minute to buy it and get rid off it immediately. You can limit the ghoulish calories by not keeping candy around. Buy it the morning of the 31st/morning of your party, and get rid of it the very next day. Throw the candy into your trash can, bring to your office, donate it to a religious group, whatever – just get rid of it, ASAP.
- Get your heart racing. Now's the time to run like you've seen a ghost. Boost the amount of time doing cardio by 15 minutes from now through the end of the year (and increase the intensity if you can). The harder workout will allow you to have some guilt-free treats.
- Put a wooden stake into your guilt. This is fun time of year, so enjoy it. A little cake, candy, and punch is okay to have. Just make sure to limit what you eat of it.
