Childhood Obesity Rates Are Predicted to Soar
A new study has very scary implications for the current generation of kids. Obesity rates are soaring among our young ones.
The problem lies with the many adults who do not follow a healthy diet. These bad habits are impacting our kids. To be fair, the presence of soda and junk food nearly everywhere, including public schools, is compounding the problem.
The International Journal of Obesity is predicting that half of all children in the Western hemisphere will be overweight by 2010. In the European Union, the estimate predicts that 38% of kids will be overweight. Click here to read the Associated Press article about the study.
Sadly, this does not have to be the case. Kids want to spend time with their parents. Hiking, frisbee, and swimming are all activities that an entire family can enjoy together. Cooking healthy meals can also be a fun family activity, particularly if the kids feel like they are having an important role in the process.
Teach your kid to exercise and eat healthy now and you’ll help to increase their odds of having a lifetime of good health and happiness.

Great article. I work out with my daughter a lot and try to spend a lot of outdoor time together. We like to hike, we like to bike ride and we like going to parks. She'd rather spend time with us doing things like that than go play with other kids -- most of the time

Thanks for the compliment.
Time spent with kids is invaluable. I still have great memories of hiking with my parents. (Plus hiking is a great way to sneak in some science education...)
