New Research on the Benefits of Aerobic Exercise

The American College of Cardiology will publish a study explaining why cardio prevents heart attacks in the May 2 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

According to Italian researchers, aerobic activity reverses the "abnormal production of certain neurohormones that result in many of the severe symptoms of heart failure". Notably, drug treatments are often unable to acheive this benefit.

A press release describing the study and its results can be viewed at http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2006-04/acoc-sme042606.php.
