Brits Healthier Than Americans

A new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (aka JAMA) suggest Britians are healthier than Americans. For instance, the study's author's concluded, "Among those aged 55 to 64 years, diabetes prevalence is twice as high in the United States and only one fifth of this difference can be explained by a common set of risk factors. " (We added the italics for emphasis).

Behind the results is that fact that Americans spend more than twice as much on health care than Britains.

An abstract of the study is available on the Jama web site. (JAMA subscribers have access to the full study).

Multiple news stories about the study are available on Google, Yahoo and probably your local newspaper's web site.
