Weight Training After Breast Cancer
Our local ABC affiliate recently ran an interesting story about exercise and breast cancer survivors. A doctor with the University of Pennsylvania is conducting a study to see whether or not it is safe for breast cancer survivors to engage in a progressive program of strength training.
Current clinical guidelines recommend that women not lift objects weighing more than five to 15 pounds. However, Kathryn Schmitz, Ph.D. does not beleive that these guidelines have any scientific basis.

If you are a breast cancer survivor, we recommend that you talk with your doctor before starting any exercise program. A few minutes of consultation is a small price to pay to avoid any complications or injuries later on.
