Bariatric Surgery May Hurt Bone Density

If you are considering, or have undergone bariatric surgery, to lose weight, you may want to begin a strength training program to build bone denisity.

According to the Doctors Guide, results of an initial study presented at the Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association showed a decrease in bone density among people who underwent the procedure. The group of paitents was very small (10 men and 10 women), so the results are not conclusive. However, it is warning sign.

Regardless of what follow-up studies reveal, the fact remains that weight loss surgery and diet pills will not provide you with long-term health. A proper diet and a regular fitness regime will. Regardless of what measures you take over the short-term, a change in lifestyle is the single, most important thing you can do.
