A Cookie Diet?

It was only a matter of time before somebody tried promoting the Cookie Diet. The Siegal Smart for Life Weight Management Center in Massachusetts is promoting a weight control program based around "Smart Cookies".

It may sound catchy, but we're guessing the cost of the program far outweighs its actual benefits. Considering how inexpensive programs like Weight Watchers® are and the fact that all one needs for a healthy cookie is a good, low-fat recipe, why engage in a special cookie diet?

Our advice is to ignore the marketing hype. Bran and oatmeal cookies can reduce your cravings and allow you to feel like you are indulging without going off your diet. Just limit their intake. As far diet, eat more vegatables and fruits. Plus exercise more. It is really that simple (The hard part, granted, is sticking to the changes in lifestyle, which is why a support group and/or a diet buddy helps.)

If you want a "smart cookie", About.com's Low Fat Cooking section has a recipe for Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies.

The Cookie Diet is actually less expensive than popular diet programs such as Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. These programs have hidden costs and contracts; the Cookie Diet has neither of these. I would be more than happy to send you pricing or you could simply make a call to any Massachusetts center to thoroughly research it for your readers. In addition, the Cookie Diet is medically monitored, unlike Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. On the aforementioned programs they are excited if you loose 1 pound in one month, on the Cookie Diet you loose 12 pounds in one month.

The term “cookie” in this diet doesn’t translate literally to what most would define a cookie to be. Yes, it tastes like a cookie, has the texture and shape of a cookie, but in fact is not a desert cookie…hence the term “smart cookie.” They can’t be replaced by oatmeal or bran cookies. The smart cookies are specially developed to include protein and amino acids among other essential nutrients to help people loose weight easily. They are all natural and will soon be manufactured to be organic.

Any “marketing hype” can be backed by all the people I know personally who have lost tremendous amounts of weight on this program.

My advice is for writers and consumers, is to research any diet program that will affect health and well being www.CookieThin.com or 1-866-916-THIN.

p.s. when using quotations the punctuation goes within the quotes and not on the outside (i.e. “Smart Cookies.” and NOT “Smart Cookies”.); Journalism 101.
