Heart Disease Symptoms Different for Women

NPR ran a very interesting story this morning on heart disease and women. Researchers now believe that heart disease presents itself differently in women. Specifically, because women store fat differently than men, arterial plaque does not build up in the same manner. As a result, different tests are needed.

The treatment, however, is the same. Exercise, diet and medicine can reduce the potential for a heart attack. In some women, however, the regime must be followed more strictly and consistently. The story is available on NPR's web site.

As we have said before, and will continue to say in the future, exercise daily and eat more fruit and vegetables. Even a short walk after dinner helps. Simply put, the more you move, the better your quality of life will be and the longer you will live.
