Workout More, Get Fewer Colds

The Washington Post is reporting results of a study that shows a correlation between exercise and colds.

Researchers in Seattle followed 115 post-menopausal women for a year. Half the group was asked to do 45 minutes of moderate exercise five days week. The group that exercised got few colds; the group that didn't had three times the risk of catching a cold.

This is not surprising given the beneficial effects exercise has on the immune system. The healthier you are, the more able to fight off viruses you will be. Just remember, exercise lowers your risk, but does not stop you from a catching a cold. So make sure to wash your hands and rest up when the sniffles do appear.
