MP3 Players and Fitness

Over the weekend, I took advantage of Thanksgiving sales to upgrade my MP3 player. Once again I shunned the popular iPod for a player made by Sandisk, specifically the Sandisk Rhapsody e250R.

The reason is that I listen to the radio probably more than I listen to MP3s. Another reason is the gym that I go to; the television sets are hooked up to FM transmitters. If I want to watch TV while on the elliptical trainer, I’ve got to tune in to a specific frequency.

Sandisk, as well as Creative Labs and iRiver, make MP3 players that have FM receivers. The iPod does not have a FM receiver. As an added bonus, Sandisk players tend to cost less than the iPod at nearly every capacity size.

This is my second Sandisk MP3 player. The only reason I upgraded was to get a player with a rechargeable battery. My older player used an AAA battery and quite honestly, I felt like I was creating my own environmental hazard with the amount of batteries I was throwing out.
