Too Much Red Meat Can Raise Risks of Breast Cancer

Eating too much red meat could increase the risk of hormone-related breast cancer.

A study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine found that women who eat more than 1-1/2 servings per day were twice as likely to develop breast cancer as those who ate fewer than three portions per week.

NetSweat.com Comments: The effect of eating red meat may not be completely causal. It is probable that the women eating that much red meat also had poor overall dietary habits. Numerous studies have shown that eating vegetables reduces the risk of several types of cancers. Those who eat lots of red meats, typically do not consume enough vegetables.
