Vitamin Supplements May Not Reduce Risk of Heart Attack
Taking vitamins may not reduce the risk of a heart attack.
A large study involving vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta carotene failed to show a material reduction in the risk of heart attack. The results were presented at an American Heart Association Conference.
NetSweat.com Comments: This was one of the largest studies conducted on vitamin C alone. Although there was some evidence of a minor reduction in risk, the study refuted the claims of supplement marketers. Simply put, there has yet to be a magic supplement and there may never be one.
If you want to lower your risk of heart disease, improve your lifestyle. Exercise more, cut back on sodium and eat more fruits and vegetables. And most importantly, cut down your stress and enjoy life more.
