I want to give some kudos to Canyon Sports in Sandy, UT. I extended a business trip there last week to hit the slopes and rented some ski from Canyon Sports. I’ve used them before when I lived in Utah, first to rent from and then to have my own skis tunes and the bindings adjusted. (I only brought my ski helmet and boots with me on this recent trip.)

The UTA (Utah Transit Authority), which operates the ski buses, failed to look at the weather map or react to the fact that the ski buses were overcrowded on Saturday, leaving 15 people at my stop stranded and probably another 30 people stranded at the next two stops. Why they couldn’t reroute a bus, like any smart business would have, is beyond me, but long story short – I couldn’t make it up the mountain to enjoy the fresh seven inches of powder at Alta.

The kind folks at Canyon Sports were more than willing to refund the cost of the rentals and the lift ticket, with out any hassle. This type of customer service is typical of what I’ve experienced with them in the past.

If you’ve got a trip planned to Salt Lake City, consider renting from them. Not only are they very professional, their rental prices are less than what you will pay at the slopes.
