My Favorite Yoga Mat

If you’re looking for a gift for someone who is into yoga or Pilates, consider giving them a Wai Lana yoga mat.

I’ve owned one for years and am about to buy to a new one. It’s twice as thick as traditional yoga mats, which means it’s much easier on the knees. (For certain poses, this is a big benefit.) The thickness does not compromise stability, however; any problems that I have with balance challenges is my own and not the mat's fault. I actually find balance challenges easier on the mat, because I can get a better grip on it with my feet than on the floor. (In other words, it has an ideal amount of stickiness.)

The colors aren’t bad either. Yes, there is the traditional blue , but there are many other colors. I’ve got an orange mat and I plan on buying another orange one. I used to get compliments on it, but like anything that is used over and over, my mat doesn’t look as good as it once did (the mat is probably 3-4 years old).

I probably don’t need a new mat as mine is still in good shape, but everyone likes to get new things. And, it will be a small reward for all those lunging poses that I done over the years. :)
