A Diet Pill For Dogs
Yesterday, the Food and Drug administration approved a weight loss pill for dogs. Slentrol, made by Pfizer, is designed to curb a dog's appetite.
NetSweat.com comments: This is wrong on so many levels, we're not sure even where to begin. Dogs get fat because their owners feed them too much, give them too many treats, provide unlimited access to food and do not exercise them enough. Loving your dog means doing everything reasonably possible to keep him/her in good health.
If the vet advises you that your pet needs to lose some weight, listen to the doctor. Get a measuring cup and carefully monitor how much food the dog gets everyday. If the dog doesn't finish his meal within a certain time frame, take away the food. Ask your vet about healthy alternatives for treats, such as carrots - there is a good chance that your dog will go crazy for carrots. Get your dog on reduce calorie food. And, WALK YOUR DOG. Dogs love to go outside and the exercise will do you some good as well.
There is so much that can be done to help a dog lose weight that doesn't involve giving him medication, that you need to talk to your vet about alternatives. And besides, dogs LOVE getting exercise.
