Cut Calories, Not Carbs, For Weight Loss

The most effective way to lose weight? Cut calories, not carbs. According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (abstract free, subscription required for full study) , altering the glycemic load does not have an impact on weight loss. Rather what determines the amount pounds shed is overall caloric consumption.

NetSweat.com Comments: This was a small study, conducted on just 34 adults. Calories do matter, but so does eating a healthy diet. Dieters should strive to both cut calories and increase the proportion of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
