Fast Food Trends – Bigger Burgers

Andrew Puzder, CEO of CKE Restaurants (Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s) told reporters at CNNMoney.com, "My opinion is that the media is the main supporter of healthy eating. We're certainly not hearing it from our customers…and [surveys] show that while consumers say they want to eat healthier, what they actually want is a big juicy burger."

And the nutritional impact of these burgers? According to the article, Carl’s Jr. Original Six Dollar Burger has 1,010 calories, Carl’s Jr. Teriyaki burger has 1,060 calories and Hardee’s Patty Melt Thickburger has 790 calories.

NetSweat.com Comments: The high caloric content of the bigger burgers do not include the extra calories provided by fries and soda. One meal could provide a day’s worth of calories. Indulging in these burgers once in a while is a nice treat, but don’t make eating them a regular part of your diet – unless you’re planning on spending hours at the gym.
