Holostic Approaches For Treating Pain

An analysis conducted by the AP found that sales of painkillers rose 90% between 1997 and 2005.

Pain is a symptom that something is wrong and should be a reason for seeing a doctor. In addition to medical treatments, however, there are also “holistic” measures that might help:
  • Pilates was originally develop to rehabilitate soldiers injured in World War I
  • Massage can relieve certain types of inflammation, as well as, reduce muscle tightness and soreness
  • Studies suggest that eating cherries can alleviate muscle pain
  • Regular exercise, especially cardio, can help with symptoms associated with fibromyalgia
  • Acupuncture can compliment traditional medical treatments
If you are experiencing pain, see a doctor and discuss holistic alternatives before pursuing them. Although there are alternatives to painkillers, these alternatives do carry the risk of complicating the medical condition, so it is important to consult with a medical professional before deciding on a course of treatment.
