Overweight? It May Be Your Diet

If you’re finding that you can’t shed those pounds, take a good, long look at your diet.

There is a good chance that it’s worst than you think. In fact, you might be eating far more calories (and far fewer vitamins and nutrients) then you realize.

For instance, as I write this, a gentlemen sitting near me on the train, is eating flavored popcorn. (I think it's caramel.) I’m sure it tastes great, but it’s a daily snack for him. And a high caloric snack at that.

Just the same, I constantly see people getting breakfast sandwiches, when a pot of oatmeal is sitting right behind them. I know this, because I eat oatmeal most mornings. Though not the lowest calorie meal, it is both filling and very healthy.

Or there is Subway, where people ask for cheese, oil and dressing. All of this adds up.

You don’t have to have a perfect diet to lose weight, just one that is better than you are eating now. Make a conscious effort to include more vegetables. Eat smaller portions. Go for whole grains. And look for healthier snacks.

I don’t have a perfect diet and you don’t have to either. Just one that is better than it is now. Small changes add up to big benefits over time.

True, there are many ways for one to lose weight, I try to give reasonable advice to people when they come asking questions like, can you write me a diet plan or I need to lose weight how...Most of these people like to just talk and want the weight literally taken from them. Others, genuinely are interested in bettering themselves. One piece of advice I give to people is simple...addiction oral fixation and the ease of instant gratification have all taken time from everyone when it comes to eating dieting and just living...my advice is usually to start simple, small and within reason..for instance I have a friend that weighed around 425lbs, big boy, football player, ate like crap, but also smoked drank dunkins anything, drank what seemed to be kegs of beer at a time, just really unhealthy. I told him and finally convinced him to quit one thing in his everyday life. Sounds small, but after discussing options he quit drinking dunkins and getting fast food for a week, no workout yet, just quit something...his body went into overload shock and he lost 8 pounds in that one week just from cutting those small things out of his diet. It is just crazy the amount of people out there that want to lose but do not want to do the research, good tips, thanks for doing your part as we are all trying to do, to get this obesity thing under wraps.
